Questions
Do I need a carbon filter if I have a softener?+
Not for hard water. A softener handles minerals; a carbon filter handles chlorine taste and smell. Get one if the chlorine bothers you.
What about chloramine?+
Some cities disinfect with chloramine instead of chlorine, which needs a catalytic carbon filter. Check your city's annual water quality report, or ask on the call.
How long does the carbon last?+
Typically several years in a home on city water, depending on use.
